Dear co-laborers in Chr.st,
It has been a relatively mild winter here in Astana (-20 deg C) up until the end of 2017 but the usual winter freeze has finally arrived with avg temperature of -30. And, it looks like next week will go down even to -40. Yikes! But cold weather doesn't bother us much anymore. May be we're becoming like Kazakhs! Yay!
Kidding aside, we continue to thank the Father for all of you and your faithful partnership in this awesome journey, and here are the brief updates.
D.sc.ple-Making Movement (DMM) at our local club: We continue to meet every Friday evening with 12 to 15 people participating. Although some people come and go, we are thankful for the core 10 people who consistently come. And, we are so excited to see that the DNA of "obedience to the L.rd" is starting to take shape! Praise the L.rd! The core group especially is starting to take commitments such as weekly scripture memorization (up to 6 now) and pr.yer walk more seriously, and it's a joy to see that they're not doing it for men but for the L.rd. We can see hunger in their eyes, the hunger to be true disciples of the L.rd.
This past Friday, we studied Deuteronomy 6:4-9 from which the Greatest Commandment comes from, and we discussed how our G.d-centered, G.d-honoring lives (in both words and deeds together) are central to not only our being true d.sc.ples but also our ability to make multiplying d.sc.ples. We are calling this "Shema life-syle" taking after the Hebrew word "Shema" from Deuteronomy 6:4 which means "listen and obey". We learned that both "Shema-statements" and "Shema-actions" always have to go together in order that people are pointed to the Father only, and through actively living out "Shema life-style" everyday, we are learning that the "people of peace" whom the HS is preparing in advance will be drawn to us for more. This coming week, we're committing to intentionally living out "Shema life-style" in both words and actions among unbelievers in our daily lives. Please pr.y for boldness and you continue to pray that;
Seeking People of Peace (PoP) at an indoor bazaar: Woojin has started Pr.yer-Walking past couple weeks through one of the largest indoor bazaar in the city trusting that the HS will lead to the PoP who are hungry for God's truth. Please pray that the HS will prepare the hearts of the PoPs, and also please pray for boldness and wisdom as Woojin plans to start engaging shop owners in conversation in the near future.
For Meesook's work: Meesook started full-time teaching two week and she is thankful for the opportunity. However, due to additional grades (she is now teaching 5 grades) and still learning new system, the work-load has been very high. She is barely getting 5 hrs of sleep a day. Would you please pray for strength to persevere and wisdom in balancing the work-load.
For young man (R): Please continue to pray for "R". He continues to be "angry" at G.d and his heart is hardening.
Lastly, please continue to pr.y for others we've mentioned in our previous letter.

Dear friends and family, Happy New Year!
With all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season behind us, it's good to be back to our daily routine. We're grateful to the Father for the time of rest and recharging, and we look forward to what He has in store for us in 2018, especially for His body in this land. Also, this week marks our first two years in KZ. We left Boston exactly two years ago, and we're thankful for all His provision and guidance thus far, and especially for YOU! Thank you so much for journeying with us!
D.sc.ple-Making Movement (DMM) initiative at our local club: We continue to meet weekly on every Friday evening (even during the holidays!) and we're so excited to see the HS moving and working amongst us! We consistently have from 12 to 15 people participating, both young and old, men and women, and we simply marvel at their fa.thfulness. Even after long day's work, they eagerly come to learn from the book and from each other. We're so grateful for their genuine heart to be d.sc.ples of J.
However, it's evident that the "obedience" part would still take some time (and work of the HS) to sink in. Each week, we're discovering together from the words about pr.ying extraordinary pr.yrs, about principles of d.sc.ple-making and perhaps most importantly, about obeying J fully for His and our joy. This past Friday, we took inventory of our own personal pr.yr lives and made a list of non-believing friends and family around us for whom we are committing to pr.y consistently. Each week, we are also committing to do "pr.yer walk" as well as memorize a verse that would play an important role, especially as we go out "fishing" with words and deeds. Every time we meet, many express how helpful the session was but except for a few, following through the commitments hasn't yet taken place. And, it is critical that the DNA of HS-led, love-driven obedience is developed early. Could you please pray that we would learn to follow through on the commitments as loving obedience to J, not out of fear of being shamed which is the norm in this culture. Please continue to pray that;
For our landlord couple (B&Z): We haven't had an opportunity to get together with yet. Please continue to pray for their hearts to open up and desire to know the truth.
language teacher (B): We are thankful her father's health has improved slightly but "B" still is not open to seeking the truth. Please continue to pray for supernatural healing of her father though. We hope it would be a turning point for "B"
For young man (R): "R" is continuing to struggle with the Father's love for him. His work ran out of money to pay him, so he is looking for new job again. He stopped coming to the club gathering for the past month and still full of bitterness toward the Father. Please continue to intercede for him.
For young man (N): "N" remains open to faith in J, and we exchanged more communications exploring J in the OT which seemed to have addressed many of his questions. However, his busy school and work schedule is not allowing us to discuss the next step. Please pray that we would have more time to meet and explore faith in J.
For Meesook's work: Meesook starts full-time teaching this week. Would you please pray that;
