Sermon Passage: Romans 6:1-4 Sermon Title: Our New Life Sermon By: Pastor Davy (Youth) Sermon Summary: Through our faith in Christ, we believe that we have been saved through faith and because we have been saved, our sins are no longer counted against us. We have been justified and have been declared righteous. Jesus died on the cross for our sins once and for all. This means that no matter how much we sin, how horrible our sin is… Jesus has over come. Once we have been justified, there is nothing that would take the Love of God away from us. But does this mean that we could/should live our lives anyway we should? Does our justification give us the key to live our lives anyway we want to knowing that there is forgiveness? Do we sin more so that we could experience grace more? No way! To be justified is not a legal term. Justification is the beginning of our relationship with Christ. We now live in love with Jesus. The purpose of the Grace of God is not that we would live in sin guilt-free but rather that we would “walk in the newness of life”. The purpose of Jesus’ sacrifice is that we would no longer be slaves to sin but a child of God. So, being justified, our life should reflect who we truly are. Are you a child of God and is your life reflecting your identity? or are you still living as a slave to sin? As we strive to be more like Jesus, our actions and our thoughts should reflect the love and grace that he has shown to us. God did not sacrifice his Son so that we may live more in sin. God sacrificed his Son so that we would live as a child of God. Our identity in Christ must identify us as a child of God.
