Sermon Passage: Romans 4:20-21 Sermon Title : Promise of God, Faith of Abraham Sermon by : Pastor Davy Ahn (Youth) Sermon Summary: Abraham believed in God and his faith was counted to him as righteousness. Abraham put his faith in the promise of God that we find in Genesis 15. In Gen 15, we see that God himself comes down to Abraham and promises that he will make his offsprings as many as the stars in the sky. And through the covenant making ritual we see that God guarantees the fulfillment of his promise. But knowing the limitations of age, Abraham, who is 100 years old, has doubts about God’s promises. And we see that his doubt actually, rather than hindering his growth as a man of God, only helps his faith grow. When Abraham was faced with the doubts of old age and the limitation of the flesh, he put his faith in God’s power rather than his own. He realized and acknowledged that God is almighty and put his faith in the all-powerful God. Abraham is a good example for us to follow. When we face doubts in our lives, we must overcome them through faith. Let us break out of the tradition of running away from doubt at all cost. Doubt can help our faith grow if we face doubt through the Word of God. As Abraham trusted in the promise of God, let us also live our lives knowing that the promise of God, which is salvation, has been guaranteed to all who believe.
