Sermon Passage: Romans 8:1-4 Sermon Title: Work of the Holy Spirit Sermon by: Pastor Davy (Youth) Sermon Summary: In the previous chapter, we saw that Paul’s dilemma was caused by the relationship between law and sin. To Paul, law was made to bring him life but it was only bringing him death. and now in chapter 8, we see how Paul came do his resolution with this dilemma. The chapter starts out with an everlasting truth. “there is no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus” and it’s important to realize that the word “no” is an emphatic one and this is to say that once you are with Christ Jesus, you will never need to worry about condemnation. Then in verse 2, Paul points out that we don’t need to worry about condemnation because we have been set free from the law of sin and death and have been liberated into the law of the Spirit of life. And the law of sin and death is the power of sin that we experience in our daily lives. this is the power that keeps us from following the law of God perfectly. This power has corrupted us at our nature. But the law of the Spirit of life is the sanctification work of the Holy Spirit. the Holy Spirit allows us to see the truth behind the power of sin. Especially when it comes to obeying the law of God, we see through the Holy Spirit that, indeed, the law was made to bring us life. But without the Holy Spirit, we can’t help but see that the law only points out the bad in us. This is the guide that Jesus Christ promised us before he ascended into heaven. The guide who will help us until the end of days. Holy Spirit’s work is opening our eyes and allowing us to see the world around us in God’s lens. The Holy Spirit takes us from the context of sin and places us in the context of life.
