Sermon Passage: Romans 8:31-39 Sermon Title: Nothing can separate us from the Love of Christ Sermon by: Pastor Davy (Youth) Sermon Summary: At the midpoint of the book of Romans, Paul is at the climax of his letter to the Christians in Rome. Paul starts with this question, “what shall we say to these things?” and through his question, he draws our attention to the Spirit of Life, Spirit of Adoption, and the Spirit of Glory he has explained in chapter 8 (see three previous sermons on these topics). But in the larger context, Paul asks for a response to the gospel that he has explained up to this point in Romans. Who will bring any charge against us? Satan will. He is keeping a record of our wrongs but God is the one who justifies and Jesus is the one who stands as our witness. Therefore, all the records of wrong that Satan will present on that judgment day will fail to condemn us. Finally, what shall separate us? Paul has experience tribulation, persecution, nakedness and all the things that he lists in verse 35 and he testifies that nothing has separated him from the Love of Christ. and he has the assurance of salvation that nothing in creation will separate him from the love of Christ. This is the climax of Paul’s letter to the Romans. That we live and believe in the Gospel, not only that but we love Jesus. And through our love and faith in Christ, we have an assurance of salvation that we cannot be separated by in any way.
